Shirley Novak, Mistress of Ceremonies,
the glue that holds your whole event together
A great Mistress of Ceremonies or MC acts as the glue for an event and my main job may include:
1. Making Introductions –Introducing key people like speakers at a conference, award winners, or a newlywed couple at a wedding. Make clear announcements, I guide guests through every stage, from calling everyone to their seats to announcing your grand entrance.
2. Timekeeping / Maintain Schedule – I make sure the event stays on track and runs to plan.
At a Wedding, I help the photographer, rounding up stragglers for group photos so no one is missed. I’ll announce you into your wedding breakfast, introduce the speeches, and orchestrate all those special moments including the cutting of the cake and your first dance. I’ll stay and assist you right up until your first dance, before I sneak away and leave you free to party!
3. Energy Control / Promote Enjoyment – I keep the crowd’s mood high, fill any awkward silences, and ensures there are no boring gaps in the program
Why choose me as your MC?
Having spent over 35 years as a performer, I am completely comfortable standing in front of people and commanding the room. I know how to read a crowd, set just the right tone whether you want something elegant, relaxed, or full of fun and keep the energy positive from start to finish. I can also cope with any eventuality, sudden change of plan keeping everyone informed in a light-hearted way so not to cause panic. I don’t just follow a script; I bring warmth, confidence, comedy and experience to make sure your day flows smoothly and feels entirely yours.
So if you need an experienced MC to keep your event flowing, using formality with a hint of comedy then contact me and lets have an informal chat
